Summer Tuition (private lessons only)- Monday- Thursday, June 3 – August 9

With our summer pricing, you get all the flexibility and convenience you need to accommodate your busy summer schedule. Lessons do not have to be the same day every week. We can always add on lessons if your schedule changes. When you register for a lesson on the calendar (see below), a charge at the rate of $35 per half hour slot (which includes sales tax) will be added to your account. If you wish to take 7 or more lessons over the summer and can pay all in one payment, I can send you an invoice reflecting a 10% discount.

Payments

Payments by check can be mailed to the studio, or sent with the student. I can also accept cash or credit card in person, and you can pay with Paypal through my website. Payments are due before or at the lesson.

Calendar

To claim a lesson spot, log in to your account and navigate to the calendar. Click the open lesson spots you want and it will be added to our calendars and removed from the open calendar.

Lesson Schedule / Missed Lessons

If you need to move your lesson, please log in and navigate to the calendar to cancel your lesson and choose a new open slot. Please call or text if you have a last minute cancelation, if you will be late, or if you need to speak with me for any other reason. I do not answer the phone during lessons. If you are calling to cancel a lesson on that day, please still do so and just leave a message.

Materials

I will use many different books and sheet music. I will try to use sheet music along with method books for variety. I will shop for books on behalf of the student to ensure the proper materials are obtained. Book payments will be due before the students take the books home. Please bring a vocal and/or piano notebook to keep notes, homework assignments, practice logs, and sheet music. Vocalists, please bring water to your lesson.

Practice

It is best if students practice regularly and complete their assignments. Aside from obvious musical benefits, practicing will help a child develop self-discipline, persistence, and devotion. It will be helpful if you schedule a practice session into your daily activities. If practicing only happens when a student has some free time or feels like it, chances are it will never happen. Please allow for a quiet environment for practicing so the student can focus on what he or she is practicing. Remember: practicing should not be a daily chore (although I understand that it sometimes can be), but rather a time for making music.

I understand that students go to camps and travel with their families in the summer. When you are home, I encourage you to try to maintain a normal practice schedule. Even if the amount of time is less, don’t lose the habit of practicing.

In Closing

Please have your student arrive a few minutes early. Lessons begin at their scheduled time, so please be prompt. Late students will not be granted extra time at the end of their lessons as lessons are often scheduled back to back. There is a "shoes off" policy at my Douglas studio/home; students may take their shoes off inside the entryway where they will stay warm and dry. There is no need to knock or ring the doorbell; enter quietly as there will most likely be a lesson in progress. There is a NO GUM policy for all students.

Missed Lessons

Music lessons are given on a tuition basis. Accordingly, there are no credits for lessons missed and no guaranteed “make- ups.” School/sports trips and family vacations are no exception to the “missed lesson” policy. THERE ARE NO GUARANTEED MAKEUP LESSONS. Unfortunately, the schedule is too tight for that flexibility. Students who miss a lesson may attend an extra group lesson if there is space. Skype or FaceTime lessons may also be arranged in certain circumstances. Lessons missed by the instructor will be rescheduled, if possible, or you will be reimbursed. Thank you for your cooperation.

I do require a courtesy phone call or text if you are going to be more than 10 minutes late to your lesson. I do not answer the phone during lessons. If you are calling to cancel a lesson on that day, please still do so and just leave a message, or you can text me. Any messages received during lesson hours I will return either by phone or email as soon as possible. If your child did not/would not go to school, please keep them home from lessons to avoid spreading germs to the other 25 students who touch the instruments.

Termination or Suspension Lessons
If a student terminates lessons for any reason, two weeks’ advance notice prior to the last lesson, or payment for the next two lessons at full price, is required. Students returning after suspending lessons are put on the schedule on a space available basis.

Performances and extra studio events

Students will have opportunities to perform around town at places like Wildflower Court, Pioneer Home, Nugget Mall, the airport, and coffee houses. I will give advanced notice for opportunities. I also host parties at my house or around town periodically for students to meet each other and play music games.

Materials

I will use many different books and sheet music. If you already have music, please bring it in and we will try to start using it. I will try to use sheet music along with method books for variety. I will shop for books on behalf of the student to ensure the proper materials are obtained. Book payments will be due before the students take the books home. Please bring a vocal and/or piano notebook to keep notes, homework assignments, practice logs, and sheet music. Vocalists, please bring water to your lessons.

Practice

Students are encouraged to practice and complete their assignments every week. There is no “time limit” for practice sessions because I want students to perform smart practice and practice until they get their work done and meet their personal goals. Overall, students get out of lessons what they put into it. A lot of the work is done at home, as the lesson is a short time period each week. Please feel free to discuss practicing struggles or wins with me at any time.
